Join our Process R&D team in Kantvik and play a key role in developing next-generation biomaterials, health products, and sustainable technologies through hands-on laboratory and pilot-scale experimentation! In this role, you will play a key role in developing and scaling innovative processes for biomolecules, biomaterials, and health-related products within IFF's global Health & Biosciences organization. This is a highly hands-on position where you will spend a significant portion of your time designing, executing, and evaluating laboratory and pilot-scale experiments while collaborating with cross-functional teams across R&D and manufacturing. You will translate scientific concepts into robust, scalable industrial processes, supporting projects from early development through commercial implementation. The role offers opportunities to contribute to technology transfers, manufacturing support, and continuous improvement initiatives across our global production network. Where You'll Make a Difference Lead and execute process development projects from laboratory concept through pilot-scale implementation and reporting Perform hands-on laboratory and pilot plant experiments to develop and optimize chemical and biobased processes Design, analyze, and interpret experimental results to support scale-up and commercialization activities Collaborate closely with multidisciplinary global project teams, manufacturing sites, and external partners Plan and coordinate daily laboratory and pilot plant activities to ensure project objectives and timelines are achieved Support technology transfers, manufacturing start-ups, process troubleshooting, and plant optimization projects in Finland and internationally Produce pilot-scale samples for customer evaluations and internal development activities Provide technical guidance and mentorship to laboratory and pilot plant personnel within project teams Drive continuous improvement initiatives while promoting a strong Environment, Health and Safety culture What Makes You the Right Fit M.Sc. or Ph.D. in Organic Chemistry, Chemical Engineering, or a related field with strong organic chemistry expertise Several years of relevant industrial experience in process development, chemical manufacturing, bioprocessing, or pulp & paper industries Strong expertise in organic chemistry, including synthesis, characterization, and functional modification of polymers and particulate materials Demonstrated ability to mentor and support colleagues in organic chemistry methodologies and laboratory practices Passion for hands-on laboratory and pilot plant work, with willingness to work directly in industrial process environments Strong analytical thinking, problem-solving skills, and a continuous learning mindset Excellent commitment to Environment, Health and Safety standards and practices Strong communication and presentation skills in English Proficiency with standard business and technical software tools such as Excel, Word, PowerPoint, SharePoint, and SAP Ability to work effectively in diverse global teams and build strong collaborative relationships Willingness to travel occasionally, primarily within Europe How Would You Stand Out?
